Government and private initiative work together to project the Bajío
Solili | September 15, 2021 |

In the first seven months of the year, the industrial demand of the four entities that Solili monitors in the Bajío represent 17.7% of the national total.

The region that had been characterized by its high manufacturing vocation continues to progress gradually towards recovery, even without reaching the levels of previous periods.

By the end of 2018, the governors of these entities had signed the San Miguel Agreement that aimed to be the first region in the Mexican Republic with a platform for integration, investment, production, logistics and export; an industrial, technological, agri-food and tourist corridor of the Bajío.

At present, these four entities follow the combined impulse of the federal governments and the private initiative. An example of this is El Gran Bajío, a private initiative that is made up of the main businessmen of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí, seeking to attract investment and develop projects that have a favorable impact on their populations, allowing entry to new markets through the creation of strategic partnerships at a global level.

During the month of August in Guanajuato, the Automotive Supply and Congress Forum 2021 organized by the Guanajuato Automotive Cluster, CLAUGTO, was organized.

Topics such as human development, talent generation, digital strategy and challenges, security, industry transformation, clean energy, industrial 4.0, as well as political and economic perspectives in the automotive sector in Mexico were addressed.

In the recently completed Investment Attraction Tour 2021 carried out by Guanajuato authorities in Europe, investments for more than 446 million dollars were made, which they estimate will generate about 5,556 direct and indirect jobs.

With this tour, expansion plans and improvements in the production processes of various companies were agreed, including: Nestlé-Purina, ITT Motion Technologies, Pirelli, Grupo PROMA, Ferrero, Le Bélier, SAFRAN and ZKW.

For its part, in Querétaro at the beginning of August the event "Amiqro Summit –UPQ 2021. Business Acceleration" was organized, where Daniel Hernández, director of the Querétaro Automotive Cluster, indicated that production adjustments are currently being made, expecting a growth of 21%, which allows them to achieve a 97% advance compared to 2019.

In the case of Aguascalientes, the State Government, through the Secretariat of Economic Development, launched the call "Promotion, Development and Promotion of Export 2021".

It seeks to strengthen micro, small and medium-sized companies that offer products and services with high international quality standards.

Economic units of any line that have an interest in expanding or entering new international markets, or those who wish to acquire the didactic and methodological tools of the export process, may participate.

San Luis Potosí and Aguascalientes, so far in 2021, had registered a gross industrial demand of 151.4 and 118.8 thousand square meters, according to Solili.

In general, businessmen from the Bajío continue to make important efforts to project their markets, paying special attention to the aspects of the labor reforms that are being implemented and the pressure that exists in the United States around the T-MEC.
