Globant and Amazon Web Services inaugurate offices in Nuevo León

Two technology giants, Globant and Amazon Web Services (AWS) expand operations in Mexico by opening their first offices in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León.

Globant, a digital firm dedicated to reinventing businesses through innovative technological solutions, announced that they estimate an investment of 60 million dollars and the creation of 300 jobs in the next three years.

This step reinforces the path for the entity to become an important technological center, backed by the investment of these two leading companies in their field.

The expansion will allow Globant to establish an Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center focused on the manufacturing industry of Nuevo León. Fernando Rodríguez, managing director of Globant in Mexico, highlighted the importance of the region's business ecosystem to carry out its growth plans.

For its part, AWS, the main cloud services platform, has opened its offices in Nuevo León with the aim of strengthening its operations in northern Mexico and promoting the adoption of cloud services in the country. Since its arrival in Mexico in 2015, AWS has invested 1.4 billion pesos and created 800 jobs in Nuevo León.

Rubén Mugártegui, general director of Amazon Web Services in Mexico, expressed his commitment to contributing to the success of Nuevo León as one of the main beneficiaries of the nearshoring process and highlighted the role of the new office in promoting competitiveness and innovation in the region.

Iván Rivas, state Secretary of Economy, highlighted that information technologies and software represent the third most important sector in terms of investment projects, after manufacturing and automotive.

The arrival of Globant and AWS to Nuevo León also adds to a growing interest from other technology companies to establish themselves in the region. From January 2023 to date, at least 120 companies are on the waiting list to begin operations in the state, according to Secretary Rivas.
