FINSA joins the United Nations Global Compact

The developer of industrial spaces FINSA announced that as of this week it belongs to the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), one of the largest sustainability initiatives in the world, which considers principles related to the environment or human rights.

With more than 15,000 associated companies in 160 countries, the UN Global Compact is a call for businesswomen to incorporate 10 universal principles related to human rights, labor, the environment and the fight against poverty into their business strategy and operations. corruption, advancing in the adoption, implementation and fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The 10 points of the United Nations Global Compact are supported by numerous intergovernmental resolutions, including those of the UN General Assembly.

With this incorporation, FINSA commits to: support and respect the protection of international human rights, to ensure that they are not participants in human rights violations and to defend freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

It will also continue its commitment to uphold the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour, the effective abolition of child labor and the elimination of discrimination with respect to employment and occupation.

Another 4 commitments that will be promoted will be support for a preventive approach with respect to environmental challenges, carry out initiatives that encourage greater environmental responsibility, promote the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies and work against corruption in all its forms, such as extortion and bribery.

Sanda Ojiambo, executive director of the United Nations Global Compact, expressed that the Global Compact is convinced that business practices based on universal principles contribute to making the world market more inclusive from the social and economic point of view.

Finsa currently leads the LEED Gold type certification in Mexico; its buildings make up 38% of the certification in Mexico in the industrial sector, and thanks to them the company has achieved a reduction of 2,200 tons of CO2, 3,800 MWh less electricity consumption, and savings of 16,900 m3 of water.
