Light aircraft manufacturer lays first stone in Celaya, Guanajuato

In Guanajuato, the first stone of the light aircraft manufacturer was laid, created more than seven years ago, the company Horizontec to be located at the Celaya Airport.

Javier Mendoza, Mayor of the city of Celaya, highlighted the importance of entrusting this investment to the municipality of Celaya, which will benefit from the creation of up to 140 new jobs for young engineering and manufacturing talents, in a factory that consists of two stages of 2 thousand square meters each, located right next to the 1950 meter long runway of the Celaya Airport.

Horizontec will manufacture the Halcón 2 two-seater light aircraft in its new home, the first commercial aircraft created by private initiative in Guanajuato.

Previously, in 2017, the company manufactured the Halcón 1, an aircraft that served as a prototype to certify the company's safety and structural design elements, learnings that have been put into this new model, Halcón 2.

The Halcón 2 can be used for air pilot training, for recreational or sports use, and can even be equipped for surveillance and security tasks, which gives it an interesting variety of commercial possibilities to exploit, explained Giovanni Angelucci, CEO and co -Founder of Horizontec, which has its corporate offices in the city of León.

Óscar Yáñez, President of the Bajío Aerospace Cluster, highlighted the collaborative work that exists in the local supply chain to be able to start a project like Horizontec's.

For its part, the Aerospace Cluster will play an important role in helping to create synergies that allow the favorable development of this and other projects in favor of the growth of the aeronautical sector in the state.

Currently, Horizontec is working on the final design details and components of the Halcón 2, and they hope that in around three to four months they will be able to start assembling some aircraft, thanks to the work of a team of around 15 aeronautical engineers, graduates of the Institute National Polytechnic.

The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue, highlighted that the state exported 5.8 million dollars in aeronautical products in 2020, affirming that parts and components for Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Gulfstream are produced on Guanajuato soil, such as turbojets, turboprops and turbines. gas.
