El Bajío is the second area of the country with the largest capital from Swiss companies, and with 205.8 million dollars of Foreign Direct Investment in 2021, according to the Ministry of Economy, in its latest report.
Valentin Pfyffer, representative of the Bajío of the Swiss-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced that they strengthen the rapprochement with federal, state and local authorities, with the aim of promoting investment.
“Swiss companies generate 50,000 direct jobs in Mexico, and 10,000 in Bajío. It is a country that does invest in Mexico,” he deepened.
Pfyffer mentioned that the area where the Swiss Private Initiative invested the most is in Mexico City, followed by the Bajío (Querétaro, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes and San Luis Potosí).

“We are resuming our investment visits from Switzerland, in fact, we have just had one, we hope that this year, or at least in 2023, we will announce new investments, there are already companies that have manifested themselves and that have in fact made extensions," he explained.
The representative of the institution highlighted that the Bajío chapter of the Swiss-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry was recently inaugurated and another office will be opened in Monterrey this month to have coverage where there is Swiss investment.
"Covering the entire country, focusing on the areas where there is more Swiss investment, the chamber's job is to share knowledge with its partners," he said.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Economy, from January to December of last year, Querétaro received 120 million pesos (mp); while the State of Mexico around 58.9 million dollars; Jalisco 53.2 million dollars; CDMX 51.5 million dollars; Nuevo Leon $27.5 million; Guanajuato 22.2 million dollars; Michoacán 17.4 million dollars and Colima 15.8 million dollars.
For its part, Tamaulipas obtain 11.3 million dollars; Tabasco $12.7 million; Aguascalientes $10.4 million; Sinaloa 10.4 million dollars; Baja California 8.5 million dollars and Morelos 7.6 million dollars.

The main Swiss investment sectors are: agribusiness, food and beverages, construction, energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, infrastructure, chemicals, watchmaking, services, technology and transportation.
Pfyffer referred to the success of the Swiss companies installed in Mexico, generating the confidence to continue with new investments.
“We have just resumed these delegation visits, there was one in 2021 and the more Swiss companies arrive in Querétaro and the Bajío in general, the more interest is shown for the area and the more trust is generated because of the companies that are in Switzerland”, he indicated.
Pfyffer pointed out that the Swiss-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry seeks to guarantee optimal conditions for companies.
