The possibility of consolidating nearshoring in Mexico could generate about half a million jobs, said Tatiana Clouthier, head of the Ministry of Economy (SE).

According to the official, the increase in labor costs in China and the concern for supply chains are factors that the country must take as a competitive advantage.

The developers that belong to the Association of Industrial Parks, for example, indicate that they do not satisfy the demand of a large number of companies that want to settle in Mexico, Clouthier pointed out.

Likewise, he stressed that since 2019, the possibility of 94 thousand 379 million dollars in potential capital injection to materialize until 2024 has been detected.

During his participation in the forum "Nearshoring: Promoting investment opportunities in Mexico", Clouthier explained that the country has various attractions for the relocation of companies, highlighting the geographical location, human capital, investment in public and private infrastructure that will take place in the coming years and the advantage mainly in logistics costs compared to other Asian countries.
