El Gran Bajío is a project led by a group of entrepreneurs in the area who seek to generate an international business agenda that attracts investments to the automotive, aerospace, chemical, plastic, logistics, energy, technology, electrical appliances and logistics sectors, among others.
It stands out that, through their industries, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí —the four states involved in the initiative— contribute 9.5% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 26% of manufacturing GDP.
So the objective is to promote greater growth in their respective economies, since together these entities become the number one exporter in the country.
"Our vision is to continue consolidating a model of success, abundance, opportunities and destinations through an initiative created in 2020 during the pandemic. The main objective is to reposition the Bajío as the best region in Latin America and one of the most competitive at the international level, ”said Quinzaños Rojas last March when the project was presented internationally.

The region has shown sustained growth of between 4 and 5% for two decades, which shows confidence in the transnational companies that settled there.
Among the strengths contemplated to promote the Gran Bajío project, is the fact that it is considered a key point for the aerospace sector where 90 global companies such as Airbus, Bombardier and Safran converge, which produce the necessary components to assemble an aircraft and even satellites communication, but also to provide maintenance and repair.
On the other hand, the region is also considered an automotive hub, since in the four states there are at least 800 companies that give shape to the most complete supply network in terms of the manufacture of various components that contribute to making Mexico appear. as the sixth largest producer of vehicles in the world. Thanks to this, 12 assembly plants operate in the area.
Under this approach, industrialists in the region, global companies, entrepreneurs and business executives come together to provide certainty that the best alternative to create new commercial ties is to transfer them to one of the regions with specialized talent, with advanced engineering projects and with the connectivity required to meet the demands that govern the international market.

"We began to add the global companies from each of the states and we have about 4 thousand global companies from 80 countries that have invested in Bajío, because it is considered the third area in the world with the most logistics potential only behind Shanghai and Dubai. In addition, we have 146 specialized industrial parks totaling approximately 17 million square meters built ”, emphasizes Quinzaños Rojas.
The added value of the region lies in the synergy generated in high-level companies, government institutions, universities and research centers.
