Developments on Reform will provide a trust for 600 million pesos for CDMX

The new real estate boom that is coming to the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City will result in the contribution of 600 million pesos by builders for mitigation measures, revealed in an interview the Secretary of Urban Development and Housing of the capital, Rafael Gómez Cruz.

The official specified that as part of the new real estate boom in Reforma there are 14 developments that are about to start or continue works, which add up to an investment of 10,000 million pesos, with projects that are built in the section that goes from Hidalgo Avenue to the Fuente de Oils.

From the construction of these projects, a bag of 600 million pesos will be released for mitigation measures, which will be contributed to a private trust whose main destination will be mobility projects and improvement of public space in Reforma and surrounding areas, as Forbes announced. “In the Reforma corridor there are 14 large projects that have to contribute and what we have found in the improvement study in the area is the need to acquire more transportation. In that we are, with the secretary of Mobility (Andrés Lajous) we are going to meet on Friday with those developers so that we specify the volume of the contribution that they are going to make”, said Gómez Cruz.

“A trust will be established with the 14 real estate developments of Reforma. We are still negotiating, but it would be a minimum of 600 million pesos over a period of five years. Each of the developers will define their contribution and will make it throughout their work process. They are mitigation measures and focus on mobility,” he said.

He elaborated that those 600 million pesos, to be contributed in five years, “will include the improvement of roads, intersections and streamline the Reforma corridor. That is the main point, improving collective transportation and thereby discouraging private transportation. It could be more Metrobús units, improve the bike paths and the pedestrian corridors towards the Metro stations”.
