Demand for industrial spaces in Mexico accelerates

The demand and construction of industrial buildings does not stop growing. After having an outstanding 2020 in the midst of the global crisis, they continue with great progress in the country.

At the end of August of this year, the search for this type of spaces nationwide has had an increase of 65%, reaching just over half a million square meters, compared to the second quarter of this year, with the main development in the cities on the northern border of Mexico, indicate data from the consulting firm Solili.

The city in which this type of development is most requested to rent is in Monterrey. In the eighth month of the year, 100,000 square meters were demanded in the capital of Nuevo León, which represents 20% of the total requested throughout the country.

Its growth has been accelerated. During the first three months of the year, the fraction that occupied the national total was 12% and during the second quarter it reached 18%.

The cities that also have a great development are the border cities, which together account for 43.2% of the country's demand. Between Mexicali, Reynosa and Ciudad Juárez they add 218.5 thousand square meters.

"This figure confirms the energizing impact that investments have had on the border as a result of a year since T-Mec started up," says Solili.
