The pandemic was a trigger for companies to accelerate their digital transformation, seeking to maintain a continuous and secure operation, which boosted the development of the Data Center sector, one of the fastest growing in the world.
The operation of Data Centers has become the digital platform that supports key sectors of the economy such as finance and electronic commerce. Within Mexico, Querétaro has stood out as the first state in attracting investment in the Data Center sector by global firms, as indicated by Adriana Fernández, associate director of the Newmark Bajío team.

Odata was one of the firms that invested 79 million dollars, completing the construction of its facilities during the second quarter of 2022.
The first phase of its hyperscale Data Center consists of a building of 8,260 square meters on a plot of 52,250 square meters and an initial power of 8.4 MW (Megawatts), estimated to reach 32.0 MW, once it is fully built.
With the establishment of Data Centers in Querétaro, whose services globally were valued at 48.9 billion dollars in 2020, trends point to this figure increasing to 105.6 billion dollars by 2026.
“Mexico is the 4th country in Latin America with the largest number of Data Centers, with a total of 13. It is only behind Argentina and Chile, which have 15, respectively, and Brazil, which is positioned as the leader in the region. with 71”, he reported.
It should be noted that the Secretariat of Sustainable Development of Querétaro announced that there are currently 15 data center projects, between investments made and to be made.
Querétaro is a strategic point of connection located in the center of the country, 220 kilometers from the capital, it is a state with low risk of occurrence of natural phenomena.
