CR Condesa Sur was born on the land of the old Ermita Cinema

The rental housing platform, Homie, announced that the iconic Ermita Cinema, one of the first skyscrapers in Mexico City, was transformed into the Condesa Sur residential complex.

In this way, the building located in Tacubaya, on the corner of Revolución and Antonio Maceo, offers apartments for rent of different types; from small studios to spaces with three bedrooms and fully equipped.

La Condesa Sur seeks to position itself as one of the most modern buildings in the area, combining minimalism with functionality along with the interior design of a luxury hotel.

The building includes a home office area for residents; which has small terraces that offer an incredible view of Mexico City.

“Condesa Sur has a privileged location, surrounded by main avenues, public transport, supermarkets; as well as all the services you need to make your life as easy and peaceful as possible, "said the real estate company.

He added that Condes Sur opens the possibility of renting to foreigners, foreigners or people looking for apartments in CDMX, since it facilitates the guarantee through Homie.

The old Ermita Cinema was designed by the architect Juan Sordo Madaleno and opened its doors in 1950 in Tacubaya, an area known as ‘Mexican Hollywood’, since the stars of the golden age of Mexican cinema walked and lived there.

At that time, the Cinema had a marquee that read ‘Paseo de las Estrellas’; Well, on the bench outside it, the hands and names of the most prominent artists of the time were engraved; such as Silvia Pinal, María Rojo, Yolanda Montes ‘Tongolele’, Gaspar Henanie ‘Capulina’, among others.

In this way, the building was one of the most visited and prominent places; however, over the years, the flow of visitors began to decrease. Finally, in 2014, the building that housed the Ermita Cinema was demolished.

"The Ermita Cinema leaves us in its legacy the memory of a brilliant time for Mexico and for this reason, we seek to make the next inhabitants of Condesa Sur feel proud and excited when they arrive at their new home," said Homie.
