Kansas City Southern Mexico (KCSM) announced that it will be at the end of June when it will sign the agreement with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) to continue with the construction of the Celaya Bypass, where it will invest 140 million dollars .
“We have already finished the negotiation with the Secretariat and we are in the documents, annexes and in the technical review, since several of the pieces have been stolen and that leads us to make an inventory; but it is on the right track, we hope that by the end of June we will be signing the agreement and starting the investments”, said Óscar del Cueto, president of the railway company.

In a television interview, he explained that the resources will focus on the completion of the work, the connection of 22 kilometers of road from the northern part of the municipality of Celaya to a bypass to the east towards the port of Lázaro Cárdenas.

“With this new bypass there is a kind of railway overpass, which will avoid these congestions and stop rail traffic. The benefit is for those who are living in Celaya and for the merchandise since it will pass through it faster and hopefully it will also bring benefits for the export trade through the port of Lázaro Cárdenas and what goes to the northern border such as Laredo and Matamoros, which are the ones we operate in,” he mentioned.
Óscar del Cueto explained that Guanajuato has become an automotive logistics hub, with Celaya being the city that has 2 companies in the sector, which has encouraged investments in the railway industry and in other sectors.
