The German company Continental will invest 40 million dollars, equivalent to 800 million pesos, for the construction of a new plant in San Luis Potosí.

This new facility will serve for the production of state-of-the-art hydraulic hoses, it is expected to start operating in 2024, the technology company said.

With this investment, Continental reiterates its commitment to San Luis Potosí with the expansion of its hydraulic business in North America.

Andreas Gerstenberger, director of the global business area of Industrial Fluid Solutions of Continental, indicated that the new facilities will complement the existing ones in the region, thus strengthening its market.

Meanwhile, Juan Carlos Valladares Eichelmann, Secretary of Economic Development of San Luis Potosí, said he was optimistic about Continental's decision to continue investing in the state.

To date, Continental operates 21 plants in 12 states in Mexico, where various auto parts are manufactured, such as tires, brakes and computer systems.

With the construction of this plant, Continental will generate around 150 direct jobs; in turn, the investment will help increase regional manufacturing capabilities.

Likewise, the efficiency of the supply chain will be present; Multi-location capabilities across the region will also drop, this is part of the company's commitment to North America.

“Growing power in North America is our goal. We have many successful installations in the region that will be complemented by this investment thanks to additional production capacity,” commented Andreas Gerstenberger.

For his part, the head of the Secretariat of Economic Development of San Luis Potosí predicts a promising future for companies and families from Potosí that will be able to access better employment opportunities.
