The construction industry, exports and foreign direct investment (FDI) consolidated upwards this year in Mexico City, according to a report from the capital's Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco).
In the first category, according to data from the agency, for August of this year its production value was 10,911 million pesos, which represents an increase of 7.7 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

In this way, Mexico City occupies the fifth place of participation in the value of production in construction at the national level, due to the increase in this activity in the sectors of electricity and telecommunications, water, irrigation and sanitation, and transportation. and urbanization, while in terms of construction, it had a drop of 34.3 percent compared to July.
In the case of the city's merchandise exports, in the second quarter of the year there was an increase of 41 percent, compared to the same period in 2021, especially in relation to the chemical industry, and to a lesser extent the manufacture of accessories, electrical appliances and equipment for the generation of electrical energy, products based on non-metallic minerals and printing and related industries, indicates the Sedeco document called Evaluation of the economic activity of Mexico City.

Regarding foreign direct investment, the report highlights that it reached 9 thousand 356 million dollars so far in 2022, that is, 126 percent more than last year, which maintains the capital of the country as the entity with the highest collection, with 34 percent of the received nationally.
Most of the foreign investment came from the United States, Canada and Argentina and was directed mainly to the manufacturing industry, transport, mail, storage, financial and insurance services, as well as trade.
