Coliving Interlomas student residential project
Inmobiliare | December 13, 2021 |

Coliving Interlomas is a residential project aimed at the student community of the firm A-001 Taller de Arquitectura and is located west of the outskirts of Mexico City. The project raises social life and education in a community from its architecture, following the principles of optimizing spaces in a system of cohabitation.

Likewise, he reported that the spatial distribution is defined in three privacy sectors: bedrooms, interior common spaces and areas with a link to the outside.

The project is divided into four towers of four levels each one where the bedrooms are located; while in the empty spaces, generated between the blocks, shared life unfolds in completely open common areas.

For its part, the rest of the areas shared by the inhabitants, includes two study rooms, a recreational area, two kitchens, a dining area, a gym, a service area, and two lounge areas on the roof garden.

Coliving Interlomas "re-interprets the traditional dichotomy of the house-patio, starting from a linear compositional axis that was fragmented to generate interior patios in each of the habitable blocks, giving them dignified vitality."

Each of the spaces has natural lighting with ventilation and natural areas in most of its orientations. In terms of materials, it was reported that one of the characteristics is the use of fluted concrete that gives character to the project, as well as thermal and unique warmth.

The use of this material represented a challenge to achieve that peculiar finish, aesthetically reflecting this artisan technique that characterizes Mexican workmanship.

While inside the work, A-001 Taller de Arquitectura integrated textures and light tones, characteristics of stone materials which, in turn, require low maintenance.

In addition, they contemplated fixed wooden furniture, combined with a suitable use of exposed engineering. In order to respect the vegetation of the site, the department used less than 55% of the soil, softening the impact of the project on the site, integrating a series of roof gardens to the proposal.

And finally, the landscape design "is thought of as a productive plant system with species including: passionflower, lemon, lime and guava, in order to provide a nutritional use, beyond the aesthetic function".
