China and its investment focus towards Nuevo León

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from China is recovering in Nuevo León. In the first half of 2020, it reached 33.4 million dollars, in 2021 it slowed down to 3.0 million dollars, and from January to June it added 7.9 million dollars, according to data from the federal Ministry of Economy.

This Friday, November 4, the company with Chinese capital Etron, dedicated to the design, manufacture and distribution of power transmission products, inaugurated a plant in Apodaca, with an investment of 5 million dollars, where it will manufacture electrical switches and the generation of 40 new jobs, reported the State Ministry of Economy.

“We are working so that more companies from different countries and from specialized segments choose Nuevo León to settle in the region. We welcome Etron and we are sure that it will soon expand its presence in the state”, said Antonio Luna, Director of Investment of the state Ministry of Economy.

"Despite the international economic and political panorama, the city of Monterrey continues to be attractive for investors seeking to meet the demand for North American consumption and nearshoring projects," says the director.

On August 26, the BUT Construction Machinery company announced that it will manufacture construction machinery and equipment, excavators and hydraulic clamps. Initially it will invest 8 million dollars and will create 400 jobs and in a second phase it plans an expansion of its production, with a capital of 12 million dollars.

On that date, the state Secretary of the Economy, Iván Rivas Rodríguez, commented that from October 2021 to July of this year, 85 investment announcements were confirmed, 44 corresponding to new investments and 41 more to expansions of its operations in New Lion. Eighteen projects come from China, 21.1% of the total.

Also in August, the Chinese company Man Wah Mexico, leader in the furniture industry, announced an investment of 200 million dollars to expand its facilities, in the municipality of Salinas Victoria, in an area of 200 thousand square meters.
