Bosch expands its manufacturing investment in Nuevo León
RIM | May 30, 2022 |

During the presentation of results obtained in 2021, the German firm Bosch confirmed that it will increase the announced investment in Manufacturing in Mexico, mainly for the automotive and appliance sectors, for which a new plant will be opened in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

The information presented is undoubtedly encouraging for the industrial sector in the country, which despite the effects on the supply chain, the economic effects caused by the war in Ukraine and the still open wound left by the COVID-19 pandemic, has shown clear signs of reactivation.

René Schlegel, president in Mexico for Bosch, indicated that they closed fiscal year 2021 with more than 60 billion pesos, which represented a growth of 7.5% compared to 2020 and ensured that they maintained a similar trend towards the end of the first quarter. of 2022.

This financial strengthening has allowed them to make investments in their different manufacturing sites in the country, which together add up to more than 10 billion pesos.

During his participation, Gonzalo Simental, VP of Finance of the company, cited the cases of Querétaro, Aguascalientes and the new Monterrey plant, referred to above.

In Querétaro, where they manufacture components for automobiles, an expansion of both the manufacturing lines and the warehouse was carried out, which meant an increase in the area used by around 13,000 m2. This includes two power steering box production lines.

In Aguascalientes they increased their capacity in Automotive Manufacturing, "particularly integrated power brakes, which already considers integration as a single kit, with the stability system."

These projects represent an acceleration of Bosch's capital injection in Mexico, which over the last 10 years has invested an average of two billion annual pesos.

As Schlegel put it, this is due to the strategic distinction that Mexico has for the global manufacturing of the German firm, largely due to the relocation of supply chains and, on the other hand, due to the challenges and opportunities represented by the new trade agreement in North America (the T-MEC).

Part of Bosch's growth in Mexico includes the human factor, as they could close 2022 with 18,000 jobs, nearly a thousand more than the current 17,000 employees, many of them in engineering areas for the Guadalajara site, where they have research activities. and Development focused on areas such as automotive mobility, including the development of software and intelligence systems aimed at driving and cabin comfort.

The investment in Bosch's 12 manufacturing plants (seven for auto parts, two for automation, one for power tools, one for telecommunications and the new one for household appliances), are signs of the resistance and leverage of the industrial sector in Mexico that, despite In an economic environment full of uncertainties, it still keeps the flame of investment and productive activity burning.
