The Mexican Real Estate Bank (BIM) sees the housing sector as positive, especially in the last quarter of this year, where the main players in this niche have seen signs of a speedy recovery.
The Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), registered from September to December 2021 a growth of mortgage loans of 20%. Infonavit and Fovissste, for their part, recorded a 15% increase in applications for new loans.
According to Gregorio Sánchez Hernández, director of BIM, in 2022 there will be a gradual recovery in the housing sector.
"If conditions remain favorable, interest rates are expected to remain or have a slight increase," he said.

This will result in clients continuing to have an appetite to buy a property, influenced by factors such as the economy, the recovery and generation of formal employment, and GDP growth.
The manager pointed out in a bulletin that, previously, developers design spaces according to the needs of the moment.
However, today they will have to see and think about spaces that are intrinsically related to the reality that people live.
“The pandemic brought great lessons. The houses will have to be reconfigured for virtuality and / or “new normality”, pointed out Sánchez Hernández.
The bank believes that customers, from now on, will think of other types of houses, which meet new requirements.
He also pointed out that during this period, the final buyer realized the quality of life that a property can provide.

For its part, the Mexican Real Estate Bank predicts to close this year with an investment of more than 9 billion pesos. This year, it is estimated that the real estate sector contributed between 100 to 110 MMDP.
Finally, BIM intends to support the construction of 11,000 homes throughout the country in 2022.
