Amazon evaluates locating new distribution center in San Luís Potosí

Consolidating itself as one of the most important logistics centers in Mexico, San Luis Potosí could become the headquarters of a new distribution center for Amazon, a leading Internet sales company, as indicated by the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO) in the entity .

In this sense, Arturo Segoviano, head of the agency, commented that the company has not fully defined the project, as it is still in the exploration and evaluation stage of the possible advantages and the level of competitiveness that the state would provide for the firm.

Likewise, he assured that he will be in constant communication with the company to follow up and provide support in order to consolidate this project and ensure that Amazon stays in Potosí lands.

Similarly, for the moment, the official avoided giving more details about the location and dimensions of this warehouse.

Carlos Mendizábal, president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA) in the entity, asserted that San Luis Potosí has great advantages such as: railways, connectivity with the entire country due to its privileged geographical location and controlled precincts, among others.

In addition to having the largest logistics distribution center in Mexico, in the hands of the firm Estafeta, who at the beginning of 2021, announced an expansion plan for 107 million pesos, which speaks of the confidence that this sector has for this developing region.

For its part, what would come for the state in case of making this arrival, Mendizábal mentions, would be the entry of San Luis Potosí to the competition with cities like León and Querétaro, leaders also in this area, in addition to attracting greater investment in the distribution theme.

It should be noted that the US firm currently has five shipping centers, two support buildings, two sorting centers and 27 delivery stations for logistics services, located in the states of Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City.
