“There is an appetite that we are identifying from international clients to enter with different (storage) schemes and one that we see happening is in dry boxes, it is interesting because it uses the logistics asset already used and puts it to another use. They buy these dry boxes at a depreciated price and the only thing they need are yards around their clients where they make temporary storage and since they are selling on a rental basis during the time they have peak production or you simply come with your trailer, you hitch the box and you take it,” he mentioned.

Currently analyzing the viability of the proposal to carry it out in the country. He explained that within the document mentioned regarding CapEx investments (capital expenditures) between large companies and small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), their second priority is to have warehouses, after distribution.

Luis Gómezchico, managing director of the company's Supply Chain, the consulting firm in charge of carrying out the study, told T21 that this is a scheme that several companies are looking for and there is the possibility of developing it locally.

“There are investment funds that are interested in developing this topic. There is an opportunity that must be explored. The idea is to have a container in some yards so that they can have a temporary warehouse and give flexibility to the fixed warehouse. It is a lower cost,” he reiterated.

These schemes already exist in other countries and could be applied in Mexico given the growth of relocation. Therefore, he insisted that they will analyze this option to detonate it and avoid bottlenecks. “It is a new initiative, but we see that it has a lot of potential,” he said.
