With the salary increase that has already been made official for 2022, Mexicans will enjoy multiple advantages, since they will have more resources.

It is usually believed that this increase is detrimental if an Infonavit credit is being paid that is denominated in Times Minimum Wage (VSM).

But the first thing you should know is that the Council of Representatives of the National Commission of Minimum Wages agreed to an increase of 22% to general and professional minimum wages, which will go from 141.70 pesos to 172.83 pesos in most of the country and from 213.39 pesos to 260.34 pesos a day at the border.

The credits that were issued in pesos do not undergo any change, however, there are credits in Times Minimum Salaries (VSM) and these will not increase by 22%.

This is because, since 2016, it was established that the credits will be adjusted to the increase in the minimum wage or to the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA), depending on which one has a lesser impact on the credits.

For example, in 2021 the salary increased 15% and the UMA 3.15%, so that loans denominated in Times Minimum wage only registered an increase of 3.15%.

So far, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) has not announced what the increase in the UMA will be for 2022, normally it does so during the first days of January and is much less than the increase in salary, therefore that there is no need to worry.

The salary increase is good news for all workers, since in addition to the fact that they will have a higher income, if they have not processed their credit, the employer contributions that their employer must make will also be higher, which will allow them to accumulate more savings in your Housing Sub-Account and eventually access financing that fits what you need.
