Aguascalientes received an investment of 300 million pesos for the construction of the first food irradiation plant in Latin America.
This project of the E-Beam Agroindustrial company is under development in the San Francisco III Industrial Park.
According to the company, it will have a modern and sophisticated warehouse, with an area greater than 4 thousand square meters. The plant is the largest and most modern in Latin America with technology used by other countries in terms of food safety.

The food irradiation process that the plant will use is used for cold pasteurization, which guarantees food safety.
The company applies this system to give added value to the agri-food industry and compete in international markets.
These facilities will be able to provide greater value to the products of the agroindustry of the Bajío and the entire country. Products such as guavas, figs, mango, strawberries and berries, among many others, can be part of this process.
E-Beam Agroindustrial reported that to achieve the development of the plant, producers from the region interested in participating as investors were sought.

The project is validated by the National Center for Electron Beam Research, Texas A&M University.
In addition to this, it received the support of the Secretariats of Economic Development and Rural and Agribusiness Development of Aguascalientes.
Aguascalientes accumulated an industrial demand of 118.8 thousand square meters in the first seven months of 2021, in a market that registered in July 2021 an average rental price of 3.96 dollars per monthly square meter, within the framework of a vacancy of 2.8% that has been adjusting downward since February 2021.
