The Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit), through the diversification and improvement of its credit options, seeks to meet the demand for 8.2 million homes, of which 5.3 are related to self-construction on their own land.
Through a press release, the agency indicated that derived from the Reform of the Infonavit Law, the Institute will present new credit options in the coming months, which will be added to the financing of self-production of housing that has been operating since August of last year. He also indicated that a financing scheme is contemplated for organizations without access to housing, such as police officers, which, in addition to promoting financial inclusion, will guarantee the right of Mexicans to adequate housing, will contribute to reducing the housing deficit and will extend the social safety net in the country.
With the above, the institute indicated that it seeks to solve historical housing needs, reflected in the National Housing Survey (ENVI) 2020 prepared in conjunction with the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) and the Federal Mortgage Society (SHF).
According to Inegi data, 8.2 million homes are required, for which 56.8 percent will go to informal loans or their own resources; 37.8 percent will go to Infonavit, and only 12.2 percent will go to request credit from a private institution.
