For specialists, after two years of hybrid and remote work, the office maintains its importance for workers and managers.

Up to 81% of companies in Latin America will offer hybrid workspaces when they return to offices, although these would not have major changes, according to a WeWork study.

It adds that 75% of employers said they feel safe to return to the office while the majority will establish hybrid work strategies to adapt to the new needs of their companies.

In Mexico, 80% of companies decided to stay in the place they had before the crisis and 20% opted for fewer offices or space.

Claudia Woods, CEO of WeWork Latam, assured that "many of the firms that participated, say 'I reduced my office space, I modified my dynamics', but not that they added new things, we are still prisoners of that office."

For his part, Álvaro Villar, General Manager of WeWork, highlighted that in Mexico the pandemic forced many companies to change their space occupation footprint by reducing or expanding their offices.

Meanwhile, a Microsoft study reveals that after two years of hybrid and remote work, the office maintains its importance for workers and managers in the region.

However, business leaders will need to rethink both physical spaces and cultural norms to make office time worthwhile, said Nicole Herskowitz, vice president of Microsoft Teams.

“In our survey, 38% of hybrid employees say their biggest challenge is knowing when and why to go to the office, and only 28% of companies have established team agreements about who will work from where.”
