The Christmas bonus is one of the benefits to which workers are entitled, which corresponds to an amount equivalent to at least 15 days of salary after completing a year in a job, or to the part proportional to the time worked.
By law, this amount must be paid before December 20, and it is usually a great relief for families; especially for the end of the year parties.
However, the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit) recommends using at least part of the bonus on something that generates some benefit, such as family assets.

In this sense, the Infonavit recalled that it has at least two options to use the bonus; for example, making capital payments or paying off the credit in advance.
Regardless of whether the credit is denominated in Times Minimum Salary or in pesos, it is possible to make capital payments; that is, additional deposits to the monthly payment of the financing. In this way, the debt will decrease and it will be paid off faster.

Infonavit highlighted that there is no commission for prepayments; In addition, there are four alternatives to carry them out, such as through a bank window, electronic transfer, payments by authorized establishments or online payment.
The second way to pay off the financing is to use the bonus to apply it to the Early Settlement Discount program and if they pay the remaining balance they take advantage of the 50 percent discount provided by Infonavit.
