Canada is positioned as the third largest issuer of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Querétaro, accumulating 2,062.0 million dollars from 1999 to 2020, detail records from the Ministry of Economy.
Canadian FDI is only below investment from the United States and Spain, which in that period contributed 6,202.3 and 3,311.7 million dollars, respectively.
Faced with the impact of the pandemic, in 2020 the entity received 43.7 million dollars from Canada, this figure means a decrease of 50.3% per year.
From 2008 to 2010, the state reported the highest annual amounts of Canadian investment; 233.5 million dollars in 2008, 213.8 million in 2009 and 267.6 million in 2010. In that triennium, Canadian FDI added 714.9 million dollars, representing 34.7% of the total accumulated from 1999 to 2020.
With accumulated figures, Querétaro is the seventh with the highest reception of Canadian FDI in the country, adding 2,062.0 million dollars from 1999 to 2020, below Zacatecas (6,594.7 million), Mexico City (5,852.6), Chihuahua (4,173.6), Coahuila (3,282.4), Sinaloa (3,222.1) and Guerrero (2,790.2).
